Happy National Senior Citizen’s Day on Thursday, August 21st! National Senior Citizens Day, August 21, is the day to let our seniors know how much we care and it’s an opportunity to recognize their accomplishments. We commemorate the elderly and appreciate them for being the pillars of our community.  In 1988, President Ronald Reagan proclaimed this holiday to raise awareness about issues that affect senior citizens and their quality of life. We often seek wisdom and guidance from older people and learn valuable lessons from their life experiences. Senior citizens are known for their generosity and willingness to assist us in times of need. Today, seniors are still active in their communities as well as continuing to have a strong presence in the workforce.  For all they do and have achieved for the good of their communities, senior citizens deserve our thanks! That’s why we dedicate a day to celebrate and honor them.

Crofton will be a hub of excitement this weekend! The Crusin’ Car Show and Grillfest will be a “happening spot” taking place in the South City Park. Crofton also hosts its annual City-wide Garage Sales event sponsored by the Crofton Senior Center. Maps are available at these locations: F&M State Bank, Peoples Grocery, Shop On 2nd, and at the Crofton Senior Center with information included in the Crofotn Journal and on the Crofotn city website. Be sure to participate in all the fun and festivities happening in our little town this weekend.
